About Serengeti

The Crown Jewel of Tanzanian Wildlife

The Serengeti National Park is one of Africa's most famous and expansive wildlife reserves, spanning 14,763 square kilometers of savannah, woodland, and riverine ecosystems. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, it is home to over 70 species of large mammals and approximately 500 bird species, making it one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.

The park is most renowned for hosting the Great Wildebeest Migration — the largest terrestrial mammal migration on Earth. Each year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, circulate through the Serengeti ecosystem in search of fresh grazing and water.
