The ultimate 9-day adventure including a boat trip on Lake Victoria.
This extraordinary 9-day safari includes a coffee tour at Kilimanjaro, Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and a boat trip on Lake Victoria.
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative holding a sign with your name. Enjoy the stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro — Africas highest peak at 5,895m — as you transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Evening welcome briefing with your safari guide to discuss the adventure ahead. Overnight at your hotel with views of the mountain.
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro for a guided coffee tour at Materuni Village. Walk through lush coffee and banana plantations with a local Chagga guide. Learn how coffee is grown, harvested, processed and brewed — from bean to cup. Visit a traditional Chagga home and learn about their culture and traditions. Enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch with locally grown coffee. Afternoon at leisure to relax by the pool or explore Moshi town.
After early breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park (approximately 2.5 hours drive). Enter the park and begin your game drive. Tarangire is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania and famous for its massive elephant herds — up to 3,000 elephants — and ancient baobab trees over 1,000 years old. The Tarangire River is the only permanent water source in the area, attracting wildlife from miles around during the dry season. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the river. Continue game viewing in the afternoon, searching for lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and over 550 bird species. Transfer to your camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park (approximately 1.5 hours). Lake Manyara stretches along the Great Rift Valley escarpment and covers 330 sq km, with 200 sq km being the alkaline lake itself. Enter the park and begin your game drive. Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions — one of the few places in Africa where lions climb trees. See large flocks of flamingos along the lakeshore, hippos in the hot springs and elephants in the groundwater forest. The park is home to over 400 bird species and diverse wildlife including giraffes, zebras, baboons and waterbucks. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint. Afternoon game drive before transferring to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area gate (approximately 1.5 hours). Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Natural Wonders of the World. The crater floor covers 260 sq km and is home to nearly 40,000 animals including the Big Five. Track lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and the rare black rhino — the most dense population in Africa. See flamingos at the soda lake, hippos in the pools and hyenas on the plains. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the crater floor with stunning views. Late afternoon ascend the crater rim and drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Highlands (approximately 4 hours). Stop at Olduvai Gorge — the Cradle of Mankind — where the Leakeys discovered fossils of early humans dating back 1.8 million years. Visit the small museum and learn about human evolution. Continue to Serengeti entering through Naabi Hill Gate. Afternoon game drive in the central Seronera area, famous for its high densities of big cats. The Serengeti plains stretch endlessly, home to millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. Transfer to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Full day game drive in the heart of the Serengeti. Wake before dawn for an early morning game drive — the best time to see predators hunting. Watch the sunrise over the plains as lions, leopards and cheetahs begin their day. Return to camp for brunch and rest during the heat of the day. Afternoon game drive visiting different areas of the Serengeti. Track prides of lions, solitary leopards in sausage trees, cheetahs on termite mounds and hyenas at their dens. Visit the Seronera River where hippos and crocodiles reside. Picnic lunch on the kopjes — ancient rock formations scattered across the plains. Evening sundowner drinks watching the sunset over the Serengeti.
After an early morning game drive, return to camp for breakfast. Then drive west through the Serengeti towards the Western Corridor (approximately 4-5 hours). Game viewing en route as you pass through different habitats — from open plains to woodland. The Western Corridor is dominated by the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, home to large populations of hippos and Nile crocodiles. The area is also famous for the Great Migration crossing (July-October). Arrive at Speke Bay Lodge on the shores of Lake Victoria — Africas largest tropical lake and the source of the Nile River. Settle in and enjoy the stunning sunset over the lake.
After breakfast, embark on a boat trip on Lake Victoria. Cruise along the shoreline watching local Sukuma fishermen in their traditional wooden boats. Learn about their fishing techniques and daily life on the lake. Visit a fishing village and meet the community. Lake Victoria is home to over 200 species of fish including the famous Nile Perch. After the boat trip, return to the lodge for lunch. Transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam to connect with your international departure. End of your unforgettable safari adventure.
